Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Karnataka to inaugurate the 14th Aero India in Bengaluru, met film stars, sportspersons, and those from the StartUp world on Sunday evening, sources said.
Union Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane on Sunday held bilateral meetings with three defence delegations on the sidelines of Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru, according to an official statement by the Ministry of Defence.
"Our expectation is to deepen and broaden the UK-India partnership. We're doing already in the trade, we're negotiating FTA, we're doing on students numbers - India tops for students numbers in the UK. Now we want to do it in defence area," Ellis said in an interview with ANI.
Modi said today India isn't just a market for world defence companies but is a partner, and the country is also emerging as a suitable partner for countries that are looking to fulfill their security needs.
Underlining the potential of India's defence sector Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the country which was the biggest defence importer for decades now exports defence equipment to 75 countries.
"Aero India is an example of the expanding capabilities of India. The presence of around 100 nations here shows that the trust of the world in India has increased. More than 700 exhibitors from India and the world are participating. It has broken all the past records," PM Modi said.
Aero India is a showcase of aerospace that has 2 important characteristics - height and speed, the two qualities that define the working and personality of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The event will showcase multiple variants of the indigenous air platforms like Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Tejas, HTT-40, Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH)," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.
