Zika disease, a viral infection, is mostly a mosquito-borne disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. It can also be transmitted to the foetus during pregnancy, through sexual contact, blood transfusion and organ transplantation.
Additionally, the district has recorded a total of 314 cases between January to September 4. Of these 190 are male and 124 are female. Currently, there are 24 active cases in the district.
The health department teams are visiting the areas affected by the disease. The health department has made an appeal to the people not to accumulate water in and around their places as aedes mosquitoes spread in clean water.
The number of dengue patients in Ghaziabad has crossed 600. However, no death in the district has been reported due to dengue, which is spread to people through the bite of infected aedes mosquitoes.

Bengaluru, Aug 23 (ANI): Marathon runner Sudha Singh, who has given blood samples for tests to check for the Zika virus, has been diagnosed with H1NI infection and not the disease contracted from daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes.
