The Kerala High Court has closed the plea of Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd and Howe Engineering Projects seeking security for their employees and property from protesters at Vizhinjam.
According to the sources, the state government has agreed to provide a rent of Rs 5,500 for those who lose their habitat and subsidies for fuel for boats and complete the ongoing rehabilitation flats in a year.
The fishermen have been protesting to oppose the Adani port project, alleging that it was not a natural port and that if one goes inside, they can witness huge sand dunes dredged from the sea piled up.
The Kerala Police on Monday released four of the five protesters arrested by the Vizhinjam police for allegedly blocking trucks in Thiruvananthapuram that led to a scuffle a day before.
The incident took place when a group of people, protesting against the construction of Vizhinjam port by the Adani Group, blocked the vehicles carrying construction materials to the port.
