A man was arrested after an FIR was registered against six persons for allegedly thrashing four Dalit youths and doing inhuman atrocities with them in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, said police on Monday.
One of the accused was arrested while the other is on the run, the police informed further. However, the police did not clarify if the accused conductor was arrested.
The accused was arrested and a probe is underway, police said, adding the incident took place in the Jodhra village on Sunday when Congress MLA Chhanni Chandu Sahu was attending a public function.
The minister told reporters, “The matter has come to my notice and it was going on for some time. The mother of the child used to live with a person named Ilyas and the child belongs to a Jain family.”
