On July 17, the Indian Air Force (IAF) officer sustained critical injuries after being attacked by the mess worker at her official residence in Pathankot district of Punjab. The accused gained entry into the officer's house to commit robbery, police said.
A Delhi Court has recently acquitted a man accused of raping a woman after finding the marriage valid, though it was without documents. The court noted that the prosecutrix had alleged that the accused had raped her.
According to officials, a team of police raided the house of the accused, who was identified as Anant Jain alias Shontu, but he managed to escape. The raiding team however seized more than Rs 17 crore in cash, gold, and silver from his house.
