The accident took place in the Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district on Monday. At least eight people died and over 25 people were injured in the accident.
Kanchanjungha Express, which was hit by a goods train and claimed eight lives, arrived at its destination station, Sealdah in Kolkata, in the early hours of Tuesday after the completion of restoration work.
Hitting back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for doing "politics" over the Kanchenjunga express accident, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that the Bengal CM should refrain from politicizing the matter.
"This is not the time for politics... Being a CM, Mamata Banerjee claiming that she has introduced the anti-collision device is absolutely ridiculous...," Majumdar said speaking to ANI on Monday.
Expressing grief over the Kanchenjunga express, Union Minister and West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar on Monday said that he will visit the injured people in the hospital.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday condoled the loss of lives in the train accident in West Bengal that killed at least eight people and injured over 20 people.
