As Congress gained an absolute majority in Karnataka assembly elections on Saturday, party president Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with top leaders of the party from the State.
However, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that he has not been contacted as yet for the formation of the government in case of a cliffhanger, adding that he is hoping for a good show.
Congress is expected to have a clear edge in Karnataka in the assembly elections held on Wednesday with four exit polls giving it a full majority and some predicting a hung assembly with an advantage to the party.
In an exclusive conversation with ANI on Wednesday, Bommai said, "Exit polls are, after all, exit polls and even most projections are predicting a close finish. However, from what I have been able to pick up from our ground sources, it is 100 per cent clear that we are going to return wit
Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party winning the elections with an absolute majority and refuted the possibility of a hung assembly.
"Modi's magic will give us the absolute majority. We will win at least 130 seats in this election. Not only the Lingayat community, but all other castes are also with BJP. Congress will lose the election very badly," said Vijayendra.
CM Bommai engaged in a door-to-door campaign in Konanakere, Chandapura, Jakkinakatti, Yattinahalli, Dundasi, and Mamadapura tandas in the poll-bound Karnataka's Shiggaon constituency on Tuesday.
Addressing a press briefing, Yediyurappa said, "Under PM Modi's leadership, we'll come back to power. Congress is corrupted and that's why they're making false allegations of 40% commission and such others, these things will be kept away by voters."
The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the Karnataka Assembly elections. The polling will take place in a single phase on May 10, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Wednesday.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday exuded confidence in winning the state Assembly polls slated to take place on May 10 and said that the BJP is an "ever-ready party" which is prepared for the elections.
