Following the denied entry into the Delhi Vidhan Sabha premises, AAP leader and Leader of Opposition, Atishi, along with other AAP MLAs on Thursday, staged a protest outside assembly premises with placards of 'Jai Bhim'.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi on Thursday alleged that police officials have barred AAP MLAs from entering the Delhi Vidhan Sabha premises on the directions of the Speaker.
AAP leaders claimed they were blocked from entering the Assembly today by the police on the orders of the Speaker and alleged that barricades were placed on the entry road to stop them.
Tensions escalated in the Delhi Assembly as Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, and AAP MLA Gopal Rai amid uproar ahead of the tabling of the CAG report.
Speaking to ANI, Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, "He does low-level politics because he wants to join BJP. First, he sends his brother (Fatehjang Singh Bajwa) to the party... he is hungry for power. We stand firmly with Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and AAP. No MLA is going anywhe
"I challenge Partap Singh Bajwa to prove that even three Congress leaders stand with him. His brother himself was in the BJP. He is an empty showpiece of Congress. All that he is saying is wrong," Dhaliwal told ANI.
Bajwa likened the situation to the "Eknath Shinde episode" in Maharashtra, where Shiv Sena MLAs defected to form a new government. He further claimed that these MLAs are making 'advance bookings' just like people buy tickets for DSiljit Dosanjh's show in advance.
Gopal Rai emphasised the party's commitment to playing the role of a strong opposition and confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony for all AAP MLAs is scheduled for February 24, after which the party will announce its Leader of Opposition.
Sirsa further took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his allegations of 'poaching' of AAP MLAs and candidates by BJP. Sirsa stated that Kejriwal's allegations shows that they have "already accepted their defeat".
