"The duo, Akthar Hussain Laskar alias Md Hussain of Assam and Abdul Aleem Mondal alias Md Juba of West Bengal, have also been fined Rs 41,000 and Rs 51,000, respectively, by the NIA," as per an NIA press release.
The court said, "The convicts formed an unlawful assembly, the object whereof was to cause maximum damage to the persons belonging to Hindu community as well as their properties and to create fear & insecurity in the minds of the members of the Hindu community."
During the hearing on Tuesday, the court of additional session Judge Prachi Patel held 40 persons guilty under section 307 of the IPC and sentenced all of them for seven years of imprisonment.
