For the first time in its history, Goa is poised to play host to the largest-ever National Games, featuring an impressive array of 43 sporting disciplines.
The traditional game of 'Gatka' is poised to get a significant boost nationwide as the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has officially included this sport in the 37th National Games-2023 scheduled to be held in Goa in October this year.

"The date of the 37th National Games will be decided keeping in view the dates of the 19th Asian Games, which will be held from September 23 to October 8 next year in Hangzhou, China," IOA secretary general Rajeev Mehta informed as quoted by Olympics website.
