The appointment has been made under the powers conferred by Section 15(1) of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, read with Section 18(8) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) notification mentions.
