A special court in Ahmedabad on Thursday acquitted all the accused, including BJP MLA Maya Kodnani, in the 2002 post-Godhra riots, Naroda Gam case, which killed 11 people from the minority community.
Eleven persons were killed in communal violence in Naroda Gam area of Ahmedabad city on February 28, 2002, during a 'bandh' called to protest the Godhra train burning a day before in which 58 passengers, returning from Ayodhya, were killed.
The investigation was initiated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, against Villayutham and others on the basis of multiple FIRs registered by the Tamil Nadu Police and Wildlife Authorities from 2008 till 2022, according to a statement from the agency.
