'Let her resign, she is not able to give justice': Pralhad Joshi rebukes Mamata Banerjee

Hubli (Karnataka) [India], September 13 (ANI): Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that she is not able to run the government properly. He suggested that it would be better for her to resign. This statement comes in the midst of ongoing protests in Kolkata over the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Speaking about the West Bengal Chief Minister, Joshi said, "Let her (Mamata Banerjee) because she is not able to perform, she is not able to run the government, she is not able to give justice to the majority community. It is better that she should go."
"Let her resign. Because she is not able to perform. She is not able to run the government. She is not able to give justice to the majority people and majority community. It is better that she should go", he added.
He also dismissed her recent statement as a political act. "Whatever statement she has given, it is a drama," Joshi said. Speaking about a separate case involving allegations against a political figure, Joshi clarified that while the person had been granted bail, the case was still ongoing. "He is not exonerated. Ultimately, whatever the wrong misdeeds he has done, the case will go on in the court."
This criticism from the Union Minister follows a statement made by Mamata Banerjee, where she expressed her readiness to resign amidst the ongoing protests by junior doctors. The protests erupted over the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, which has sparked widespread outrage.
On Thursday, Banerjee said, "I am ready to resign from the Chief Minister of West Bengal. I am not concerned about the post. I want justice for the victim, I am only concerned about ordinary people getting medical service." She stressed that her priority was ensuring justice for the victim and proper treatment for the public.
Amid these protests, BJP leader Roopa Ganguly too urged the Chief Minister to step down. "Let us start tomorrow's day with good news," Ganguly said, asking Banerjee to resign from her position as Health Minister as well.
Meanwhile, BJP's Dilip Ghosh also raised concerns about the safety of the judiciary, alleging that judges were being threatened. "Judges are being intimidated in Diamond Harbour. They're being threatened at their homes. Earlier, Trinamool tried to intimidate teachers and doctors too, but couldn't stop them," Ghosh said.
During a press conference, Banerjee also apologised to the public and assured that no action would be taken against the protesting doctors. "I waited 3 days for them. Even when they didn't accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, I waited. I apologise to the people of this country and the world who are supporting them (doctors), please give your support. We want justice for the victims and treatment for common people. As per the Supreme Court's instruction, they must join duty," she said.
Banerjee in her address also added that," Though three days passed after the Supreme Court verdict, we (WB officials) are not taking any disciplinary action because sometimes we have to tolerate it. It is our duty to tolerate sometimes." (ANI)
