It was BJP which sent Masood Azhar back to Pakistan: Rahul to PM Modi

Haveri (Karnataka) [India], Mar 9 (ANI): As political slugfest intensifies over the fight against terrorism in run-up to the coming Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi that dreaded terrorist Masood Azhar was sent back to Pakistan from India when the BJP was in power at the Centre.
Gandhi, who addressed a public gathering here, said: “A few days ago, our soldiers were martyred in Pulwama. Who was responsible for Pulwama terror attack? Who sent Masood Azhar back to Pakistan? It was the BJP.”
“Ajit Doval, who is the National Security Advisor for Prime Minister Modi led Central government, escorted head of JeM Azhar back to Pakistan. We are not like Narendra Modi. We don’t bow down to terrorists,” he said.
Continuing his tirade against the BJP, Gandhi further questioned PM Modi to explain to the nation what he did when the Chinese invaded Dokalam in Arunachal Pradesh. “You were with the Chinese Premier while that happened,” he said.
“Modi ji, you should tell the country what you did when the Chinese troops entered Dokalam. Were you swinging with the Chinese President at that moment,” asked Congress president Rahul, while urging the people to vote Congress to victory in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
It is worth mentioning that Masood, chief of dreaded Pakistan-based terror outfit—Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), was a close associate of Osama bin Laden. He was released from Indian prison on December 19, 1999, for the safe return of passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines aircraft IC-814.
Just after his release, Masood founded JeM, which carried out the first suicide attack in Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar in April 2000. It was also responsible for the attack on Indian Parliament on December 13, 2001, which claimed the lives of nine security personnel and officials.
India was taken aback when a heavily armed group of JeM terrorists attacked the country’s one of the largest airbases—Pathankot airbase in Punjab—on January 2, 2016, in which seven security personnel were killed.
Continuing with its audacious anti-India activities, JeM attacked Army’s Uri brigade headquarters on September 18, 2016, in which 17 soldiers were killed, and 30 others were injured.
Pulwama attack on February 14 this year was JeM’s deadliest terror attack in the recent past in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. India retaliated by targeting JeM’s largest training centre at Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. (ANI)
