"If no action is taken, we should all resign...": Purnea MP Pappu Yadav on Bihar SIR

New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): Purnea MP Pappu Yadav on Thursday criticised the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar, alleging that the Election Commission is acting in a biased manner and siding with the BJP.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav asserted that if no action is taken on the exercise in Bihar, then they all should resign from the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha and let the government run the House on its own.
"When something happens beyond the Constitution, then Parliament has the right to amend it, discuss it, and interfere in it. If the Election Commission becomes unbridled, then the Supreme Court will also intervene... When they realised they were not going to win the elections, they took SIR as an excuse... EC is speaking BJP's language... If no action is taken, we should all resign from the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha and let the government run the house on its own," he said.
Earlier today, Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Sandosh Kumar said that the exercise "intentionally" attempts to exclude Dalits, Adivasis, and Minorities from the voting list.
Speaking to ANI, Kumar claimed that the work done in the name of the Election Commission seems to favour the BJP.
"How can there be such a major revision in such a short time? Bihar's election isn't sudden... Why is the Election Commission preparing late? In the last 20 years, have all terrorists been on the list? Did Nitish Kumar form the government after getting their votes, and did the BJP gain many votes?" Kumar said.
"This SIR intentionally attempts to exclude Dalits, Adivasis, and Minorities. It is obvious even from the name. It's not just about exclusion, but also about making it easy for inclusion," the CPI MP added.
Meanwhile, amid opposition ruckus, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day.
Both Houses will reconvene again on Friday at 11 am.
Earlier today, Speaker Birla urged Opposition members not to resort to disruptions. He stated that the conduct of members does not meet the standards of the House's dignity. Birla objected to members raising slogans and carrying banners, asking what message such conduct conveyed.
Referring to Congress, he said, "Such conduct is not in a party's 'sanskar', but the way new generation is behaving, it is being seen by the entire country." (ANI)
