Union Minister Chirag Paswan described the arrest of Purnea MP Pappu Yadav as "part of the process," emphasising that no member of parliament can be arrested without reason and that such actions are based on certain facts.

The arrest followed high drama at his Patna residence, where police arrived to take him into custody. Speaking to reporters, Yadav said he was unwell and expressed fear about his safety.
Patna SP City Bhanu Pratap Singh said the case was registered under the old Indian Penal Code, which has since been replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case involves Sections 419, 420, 468, 448, 506 and 120B and is linked to the Gardanibagh police station.
Independent MP Pappu Yadav said he respects the people's verdict in Bihar but raised concerns over employment and asked whether the results truly reflect the public mandate. He also said Nitish Kumar's views do not align with the BJP.
Yadav said that the BJP has made several efforts to form a Nitish Kumar-led NDA government; however, he expressed confidence that women would vote for the Mahagathbandhan.
"When was the exit poll correct? You are talking about the exit poll; I'm talking about the exact poll. You are saying that the vote has increased, but where has it increased? I believe that the people of Bihar have cast their votes for Mahagathbandhan," Pappu Yadav said.
He further questioned Shah's accountability over the incident, noting that he had not resigned following the incident. Yadav noted that none of the Indian neighbours are with the country, stressing that the government only spreads hatred and division.
