Congress govt's poor financial management has been exposed: Jairam Thakur on HRTC employees not getting salary

New Delhi [India], October 14 (ANI): Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said on Saturday that the Congress-ruled state government in Himachal Pradesh has been exposed because of its poor financial management.
"The present government of Himachal Pradesh is of the Congress party. They have been exposed because of their financial management," Thakur said while speaking to ANI on the issue of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) employees not getting their salaries paid for months.
"In Himachal, many employees in different departments, corporations and boards are not getting their salaries in time. HRTC is just one of them," the former Chief Minister added.
Thakur said that the state government has failed in several other aspects, be it disaster relief and rehabilitation work or providing employment to the youth.
"People are on the streets. The government is neither working on disaster relief and rehabilitation work properly nor providing employment to the youth. The law and order situation has completely broken down," he said.
Thakur said that it is concerning that the HRTC employees had not failed to get their issues resolved after talking to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu but they have also failed to get their salaries.
"It is a matter of concern that employees there are not getting salaries for many months. They went on strike and talked with the Chief Minister, but their problems were not resolved. They have now come down to ask for their salaries so that they can pay the fees of their schoolchildren, those who study in colleges and universities, and to take care of the elderly who need care...The (Himachal Pradesh) government has been badly unsuccessful in this," Thakur who is also the Leader of Opposition in the state said.
The former Chief Minister said that the HRTC employees do not even know when they will get their salary. He added that the government has fired 'Covid workers' without paying them six months' salary.
Hitting out on the state government over unemployment, Thakur said, "The present government had guaranteed that they will provide jobs to five lakh unemployed people and will give jobs to one lakh people in a year, but the present government has fired 10,000 employees in 10 months. After the formation of the Congress government, not a single person has been given a job."
Speaking on the caste-based census, Thakur said that it is only aimed at creating a divide in the society for political intentions which is harmful to the country.
"The way in which caste-based census was brought into discussion is for political intent only. I don't think it will benefit any community or any caste. The attempt to create a divide based on caste with political intent is harmful to India," he said. (ANI)
