Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Jairam Thakur, on Tuesday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the revenue deficit grant (RDG) issue.
He said that Congress is no longer acting as a responsible political party but as an anti-national party, and that Rahul Gandhi's gang, scared of India's progress, has resorted to tarnishing the country's image.
"Why so much haste to get a discussion on RDG?" Thakur asked, insisting that the House should first take up the Motion of Thanks as per established convention. "We want the Motion of Thanks to be brought first. What is the hurry?"
An all-party meeting was convened before the session began, chaired by Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, and BJP Legislature
The meeting was called following the 16th Finance Commission's reported decision to discontinue the Revenue Deficit Grant to certain states, including Himachal Pradesh.
Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, said that BJP legislators raised serious concerns regarding the non-release of MLACDF, discretionary funds and the pendency of development priorities submitted by opposition MLAs.
Jai Ram Thakur listened to the live broadcast of the Union Budget speech along with BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal at the party's state headquarters in Shimla. Party leaders and workers were also present.
