Uttar Pradesh: One person killed in scuffle in Kairana

In Uttar Pradesh's Shamli, parents of Aastha Jain, who secured the 9th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025, expressed their pride. Her father said, "She secured 4th rank across India in the 12th board examinations. She has also cracked the UPSC exam three times. Currently, she is in the Rajasthan IPS cadre and is undergoing training in Hyderabad."

The developments come after student protestors of JNU, led by JNUSU, were detained by Delhi Police after they took out a protest against Vice-Chancellor Santishree D Pandit. After the police locked the university doors and prevented protestors from crossing the barricades, they met with a scuffle, following which the police detained several protestors.

Tensions flared outside a hospital in Tamil Nadu's Salem as a scuffle broke out between journalists and cadres of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) after a man reportedly suffered a heart attack during a TVK chief Vijay's rally.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Khongsai stated that the violence began as a minor scuffle involving three or four intoxicated individuals, but was later misrepresented as a conflict between two communities. She stressed that the incident was not communal in nature and alleged that certain anti-social elements were attempting to give it a divisive narrative.

Reacting strongly to the incident, Padi Kaushik Reddy accused senior police officials of overacting and said he would pursue the matter until justice is served.
