All arrangements made to ensure a smooth and peaceful Ganeshotsav festival: Pune Police Commissioner

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], September 6 (ANI): Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar assured on Friday that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful Ganeshotsav festival in the city.
In conversation with ANI, Kumar stated that 22 police help centers have been set up, and heavy security arrangements, including traffic regulations and crowd management, are in place.
Kumar emphasized that special focus is being given to preventing crime against women, mobile theft, and pickpocketing.
He also mentioned that meetings have been held with respective Ganesh mandals across the city, and there is excellent cooperation and coordination between the mandals and police.
A total of 7000 police officers and personnel, including SRPF and QRT teams, have been deployed to deal with any situation.
Additionally, sabotage squads and metal detectors have been placed at sensitive locations.
Kumar also announced a complete ban on the sale of liquor on the first day of Ganeshotsav and on September 17th and 18th, during the Visarjan days.
A proposal has also been sent to the concerned department to ban the sale of liquor in areas under the jurisdiction of Vishrambagh, Faraskhana, and Khadak police stations for the entire 10-day period.
Regarding the recent murder case of NCP Corporator Vanraj Andekar, Kumar stated that all accused have been arrested and will be booked under stringent laws like MCOCA and BNS. Efforts are being made to curb criminal activities and ensure no repetition of such incidents.
Kumar also warned that criminals will be dealt with sternly, and if their houses are found to be used for criminal activities and are illegal, due process will be followed to demolish the structures, within the provision of the law. (ANI)
