3 places you just can't miss on Grand Tour of Switzerland

Unterseen - Oberhofen Lake Thun The Bernese Oberland mountain panorama simply doesn't get more impressive - from Unterseen there are uninterrupted views of a row of magnificent peaks that rise above the glittering lake. It's worth parking the car and lingering for a while to really soak up the natural splendour. After a rugged stretch, the Beatenbucht opens up, with a funicular rising to Niederhorn, which affords grandstand views of Lake Thun. Little harbours like the one in Merligen add a splash of variety, while the lakefront beach in Oberhofen invites relaxation before you head on to explore Thun. Corseaux - Lutry Lavaux Like something out of a fairytale, Lavaux is almost too beautiful to be true. After climbing to Chexbres, the Route de la Corniche leads straight through the vineyard terraces. Though narrow, the road offers plenty of opportunities to stop and drink in the magnificent views - let your gaze drift across hillside vineyards, dry stone walls and wine-growing villages to the glittering expanse of Lake Geneva and the Alps on the horizon. The drive from Epesses, the little gem of a village that graces some wine bottle labels, via Riex and Grandvaux down to Lutry on the shores of the lake is bewitching beyond belief. Ardon - Saillon Valais With vineyards reaching as far as the eye can see, Ardon is the gateway to wine country. The vines that thrive on these rocky slopes yield fine wines. Taste them in the local cellars, farmhouses or rustic taverns and you won't be disappointed - the Valais Wine Route is renowned for its quality. The highlight of this route is Saillon, which was voted the most beautiful village in French-speaking Switzerland in 2013. Its historic Bayart Tower affords captivating views across a sea of vines and the Rho^ne Valley and the majestic Valais Alps
