Talking Hands

Telangana (Hyderabad) [India], Oct 3 (ANI): Taking a cue from the popular saying "A purposeful silence is always better than meaningless voice," a restaurant in Hyderabad named Talking hands is one of the first in India where the entire staff and management is run by differently abled persons.
Employing around 25 deaf people, including waiters, cashiers, and managers, the eatery was started last year, proving that silence is not a sign of weakness.
The name Talking Hands refers to hand to hand communication as customers use sign language to communicate instead of talking. There are televisions that teach signs and the menu card also demonstrates the signs for every dish. Every waiter has a sign name by which they are called.
Sathish, Manager of Vindhya E-Infomedia Pvt Ltd, explained that the motto of the restaurant is to provide employment to differently abled people and make them skilful.
He told ANI, "We never compromise on the quality of work and all our clients are happy with what we are providing to them. From day one itself, we understand the person and train them well. There are employees who have started data entry and now they are senior team leaders. There are more than one hundred different able persons working in Hyderabad. "
"Our firm also bears school fees of employees' children," he added.
Venkat, an employee, spoke to ANI and said, "Earlier I used to sit at home because there was no job for me but later I joined this firm and from then my entire lifestyle has changed. I joined here seven years back as an agent, and now I am a team leader. It is really good working here."
Initiated by Telangana Tourism and TKM Sandeep, CEO of Deaf Enabled Foundation, Talking Hands is an opportunity for the deaf people to prove their passion, hard work and courage for those who underestimated them.(ANI)
