Amritsar (Punjab), November 27 (ANI): A sea of devotees reached the Golden Temple in Punjab’s Amritsar on November 27 to celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti. The Gurdwara premises were illuminated. The day marked the birth anniversary of the first Guru of Sikhism- Guru Nanak Dev. He was also the founder of Sikhism. Devotees from different parts of the country visited Golden Temple to celebrate the festival. Every year, the auspicious occasion is held on the full moon date of Kartik month, also known as Kartik Purnima. On Gurpurab, prayers are held in Gurdwaras throughout the day. The many components of the festival continue until late at night, when devotees indulge in the langar.
