The World Health Organization (WHO) and The Lancet have sounded a stark warning that continued inaction on climate change is claiming millions of lives each year and threatening global health, economies, and livelihoods.

European Union's Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin hailed the progress made in the India-EU FTA talks held in Brussels and said that they aimed to reach an agreement by the end of the year.

The talks have resulted in the creation of a framework that will significantly support businesses on both sides, delivering a "win-win" situation for the EU and India.

According to Dawn, the package includes a three-year incremental plan featuring a Rs4.04 per unit reduction for industry and a shift in tariff rebasing from a fiscal year to a calendar year cycle starting January 1, 2026. The government maintains that both small and large industries received a benefit of Rs10.3 per unit on surplus electricity consumption. However, industrial representatives dispute these claims. They argue that the relief primarily benefited inactive or limited scale units, while larger B3 and B4 category industries, which contribute no losses to the grid but pay higher tariffs, saw little real advantage. Business leaders also contend that rising fuel costs and quarterly adjustments have effectively wiped out much of the announced reduction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted how the coming together of India and Brazil strengthens the voice of global south in the international arena. He gave a call for reform of international institutions to address contemporary challenges and affirmed the resolve of India and Brazil to work together in that direction.

Three MoUs were exchanged between the two government namely -the MoU Joint Declaration On Digital Partnership for Future, the MoU on Cooperation in areas of Rare Earth and Critical Minerals and the MoU for Cooperation in the field of Mining in the Steel Supply Chain.
