The European Union announced it is entering a "new era" by phasing out all Russian gas and oil imports, with gas imports to stop by autumn 2027, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff held long talks on ending the Ukraine war but made no breakthrough. Yuri Ushakov said territorial issues remain unresolved, discussions will stay confidential, and both sides will continue negotiations, with President Trump updated on the outcome.
