The Calcutta High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) versus Trinamool Congress (TMC) matter, citing an unconducive atmosphere in the courtroom, and posted the case for hearing on January 14, 2026.

"There has always been a debate between guns and butter. But if we play smartly, one can contribute to the other. The gun can contribute to the butter. Over the past three years, most of our procurements have been from domestic sources, once we do that, we're paying 18% GST, which goes back to the government funds. It helps generate employment and revenue through industrialisation. So, this is a change of strategy... that is one thing which we must realise," CDS General Anil Chauhan said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari were involved in the coal smuggling case. She alleged that the money from the coal scam went to Amit Shah through Suvendu Adhikari and BJP leader Jagannath Chattopadhyay.

Union Minister Nityanand Rai said that the Lalu family and corruption are synonymous. Today, the court has also accepted the fact that the Lalu family is prima facie guilty in the land-for-jobs case, and the trial will proceed against them.

A total of 549 trains have been sped up under TAG 2026 to improve punctuality and reduce travel time. Out of these, 376 trains were sped up by 5 to 15 minutes, 105 trains by 16 to 30 minutes, 48 trains by 31 to 59 minutes, and 20 trains by 60 minutes or more.
