Lohri (Jan 13) and Makar Sankranti (Jan 14) are major Indian harvest festivals marking winter's end and the sun's northward journey (Uttarayan), celebrated with bonfires, folk songs, dancing (Lohri), holy dips, kites, and sweets (Makar Sankranti), symbolising new beginnings, prosperity, and gratitude to nature and farmers. Lohri is the eve of Makar Sankranti, with shared themes of harvest, faith, and cultural unity, observed across India in diverse forms like Pongal and Magh Bihu.

With a firm resolve to achieve holistic development and self-reliance in the energy sector, a high-level Business-to-Government (B2G) meeting was organised on the second day of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Rajkot.

A 25-year-old man lost his life after allegedly falling from a terrace in the national capital on Sunday, according to an MLC intimation received from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital at the Adarsh Nagar Police Station vide DD No. 87 at 7:40 pm.

"On the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand Ji, we are celebrating National Youth Day. On this historic day, all the educational institutions in Odisha sang Vande Mataram at 11 AM, followed by a floral tribute to Swami Vevekanad Ji in all the schools and colleges on this day," Suraj said.

Sarmah claimed that several AAMSU leaders, from its founding president Abdul Hainagiri to recently resigned president Rejaul Karim Sarkar, used the organisation as a platform before eventually joining the Congress. He further alleged that Sarkar's formal entry into the Congress on January 11 had once again exposed what the BJP described as the "true character" of AAMSU.
