Communist Party of India MP John Brittas, in an exclusive interview with ANI, said that the Congress party was compelled to shift its political positioning due to the Bharatiya Janata Party occupying the right-wing space, but asserted that the party continues to retain a right-wing economic ideology.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of acting in an authoritarian manner and engaging in appeasement politics.

"When we call builders, innovators, inventors, on a so-called global platform, we should start behaving like that also. You cannot throw out people you invited to showcase themselves to the world for a PR stunt... More importantly, I have heard delegates have been withdrawing... You could have showcased yourself to the world in a better way," Priyank Kharge remarked.

The operation involved area domination and systematic search of suspected cultivation sites. During the conduct of the operation, the joint team detected illicit poppy cultivation spread over 22 acres, which was destroyed.

"Polarisation is taking place in the country in the name of religion... identity politics has played havoc on the Left movement," Brittas said.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday visited the headquarters of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Nadia district of West Bengal and lauded the organisation's role in spreading the message of Sanatana Dharma across the world.
