Directorate General of Civil Aviation held a high-level meeting on Tuesday with all Non-Scheduled Operators (NSOPs) to address a recent surge in aviation incidents and emphasised prioritizing safety over commercial interests while affirming that the pilot-in-command's decision to divert delay or cancel a fight for safety reasons is final and must be respected by operators without commercial considerations.

"The Cabinet decision on extending the North-South corridor from GIFT City to Shahpur will improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and GIFT City. It will boost commerce and further 'Ease of Living,'" PM Modi wrote.

According to a press release by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), the three projects covering eight districts across the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 307 kilometres. The proposed multi-tracking project will enhance connectivity to about 5,407 villages, which have a population of about 98 lakhs.
