Indian rowers feel proud after bagging Gold, 2 Bronze

Pune (Maharashtra), Aug 28 (ANI): At the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games, India won a Gold and two Bronze medals in the men’s quadruple sculls event on August 24. Indian rowers felt proud of winning the medals and are eyeing the next Asian Championship and 2020 Olympics. Dattu Bhokanal won Gold in heavy weight quarter pool. On his win, he said, “I was not well. Even though my friends asked me if I can make it despite fever, I said I can and I will bring gold. The promise that we made, we fulfilled it. I am feeling very happy. We will strengthen our minds and muscles so that we don’t have to face problems in the next games.” Bhagwan Singh who won Bronze in light weight doubles said, “The competition was very high. Our hard work paid this time. India won many medals including one gold and two bronze. Our experience there was very good. We were continuously practicing since January under our federation’s and army coaches. We hope to win at the upcoming Olympics.” The Indian men’s team comprised of Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash, Sukhmeet Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Rohit Kumar. The rowers clocked 6:17:13 to win the medal.
