Equestrian team receives grand welcome by Indian Army at IGI airport

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): The Equestrian team at the 18th Asian Games at Jakarta, Indonesia received a grand welcome at the Indira Gandhi International Airport by the Indian Army. Fouaad Mirza led Indian team clinched the silver medal in the Equestrian team event at the Asian Games. The team comprising Rakesh Kumar, Ashish Malik and Jitender Singh apart from Fouaad Mirza scored 121.30. Ashish Malik, Equestrian player said, “There were lots of challenges as many countries came. After a lot of hard work we won a silver medal for the country.” Rakesh Kumar, Equestrian player, said, “There was a lot of pressure as athletes from other countries were really good. The victory is not only of the team but a lot of people who are working around it. It is a collective team effort.” Mirza won another silver in the individual Equestrian event with a score of 26.40 behind Japan's Oiwa Yoshiaki who scored 22.70. Fouaad Mirza became the first Indian to clinch a medal in individual Equestrian event at Asian Games since 1982.
