CWG 2018: Weightlifting medal rush continues with Vikas Thakur's bronze

New Delhi, Apr 08 (ANI): Indian weightlifters continued their medal rush at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 as Vikas Thakur won a bronze medal in the sport on Sunday. Thakur lifted a total of 351 kg in men's 94 kg weightlifting. In the snatch, he lifted 152 kg in his first attempt and 155 kg in the second. In the third attempt, Thakur successfully lifted his personal best of 159 kg to take the silver medal position by the end of the round. In clean and jerk, the Ludhiana power-man successfully completed his first attempt of 192 kg, however, his next two attempts went in vain as he failed to lift 200 kg to drop to bronze medal spot. The gold medal was taken by Steven Kari from Papua New Guinea with his combined lift of 370kg, including a final successful 216kg lift in clean and jerk. Boady Santavy finished second with a combined lift of 369kg.
