Cannes (France), May 09 (ANI): Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem led the charge up at the red carpet as the Cannes Film Festival opened. Cruz and Bardem star in the Spanish-language family drama "Everybody Knows" by Iranian film director Asghar Farhadi, the festival's opening film, which is also in the running for its top prize, the Palme d'Or. Twenty-one other films are in competition including "BlacKkKlansman", the true story of an African-American police officer, who infiltrates the Ku Klux Klan, directed by Spike Lee. Joining Blanchett on the jury are actors Kristen Stewart and Lea Seydoux and director Ava DuVernay. The festival runs until May 19.
