New Delhi, Sep 10 (ANI): Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Sui Dhaaga’ has been a battleground of hard work and perseverance. Varun Dhawan who plays the role of Mauji, an innocent tailor had to imbibe authenticity into his character. Director Sharat Katariya wanted Varun’s character to own a cycle to appeal to his characters situations. “Mauji loves his cycle. Cycle is the most preferred transportation option in rural India and we had to include it because the cycle adds so much visual appeal to Mauji’s character. Mauji and Mamta (Anushka Sharma) have some really beautiful moments with each other – bonding, talking and getting to know each other – when they go for the rides together. The cycle captures the beautiful, innocence of small town life and romance,” Varun said during an interview. Anushka added, “We were in the peak summers of North India. I had to sit crossed legged on the cycle, which I was not used to. Sharat had said, never are you guys going to touch each other in the film, but I was somehow holding the (seat) to save my life. We were sweaty, we were in aches and pains, and my back was gone.” The duo shot in summer heat in Chanderi and Delhi, sometimes requiring cycling for nearly 10 hours at a stretch. It was tough. Varun said that he had to cycle it daily for nearly 15 days and was exhausted by the end of it. ‘Sui Dhaaga’ is a film about finding love and respect through self-reliance. The film is set to release on September 28.
