'A special film had to bring us together’: Deepika on working with Shahid

New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming release ‘Padmavati’ will witness Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor sharing screen space for the first time. ‘Padmavati’ is a story based on Rani Padmini played by Deepika and Shahid will portray the character of her husband Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. The ‘Piku’ actress expressed her happiness over working with Shahid for the first time, and shared to a leading daily, “Shahid and I have known each other for so many years, but a special film like Padmavati brought us together onscreen." Adding more to it, she shared, “"His contribution to this film is irreplaceable. It was important to have a good actor, with a strong screen presence and massive popularity to add to this film. Shahid brought that with him." 'Padmavati', helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is scheduled to release on December 1.
