Padmavati row: Pahlaj Nihalani backs Bhansali, says he has always promoted Indian culture

Mumbai, Nov 11 (ANI): Reacting to the ongoing controversy surrounding 'Padmavati', the former chief of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Pahlaj Nihalani has come out in the support of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, saying he has always promoted Indian culture in his films. While talking exclusively to ANI, Nihalani dubbed the renowned director as a "sensible and best technician in the industry." The period drama, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, has been facing protests from various communal groups, including Shree Rajput Karni Sena for allegedly tampering with historical facts. The movie, which is slated to release on December 1, has been embroiled in a spate of controversies ever since its inception.
