New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea alleging that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' glorified the practice of 'Sati' and seeking penal action against its producers and director. Through his plea, social activist Swami Agnivesh sought deletion of the scenes that depicted the practice of 'Sati'. He also sought direction to the Delhi police to file an FIR against the movie's promoters, producers, distributors and the director. Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed pleas seeking the same. Sati is a funeral custom where a widow immolates herself on her husband's pyre or takes her own life in another manner shortly after her husband's death. Bhansali's magnum opus, which stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, has been mired in controversy since the shooting started. It hit the theatres on January 25.
