Padma Shri actress Supriya Devi passes away

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): Veteran Bengali actress and Padma Shri awardee Supriya Devi passed away at the age of 83 at her residence in Kolkata on Friday. According to sources, the veteran actress was unwell for several months and had been admitted in a hospital for the past week. Renowned actress, who is known for her work in Bengali cinema for more than 50 years, received the Padma Shri in 2014. She was also a recipient of West Bengal's highest civilian honour Banga-Vibhushan. She is best known for her portrayal of Neeta in Ritwik Ghatak's Bengali film ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’. Supriya Devi had acted in almost 45 Bengali films till 2006. Her last film was 'The Namesake'. She is survived by her daughter Soma.
