New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): American media proprietor Oprah Winfrey seems to have brought the 2018 Golden Globes audience to their feet with her powerful speech as she accepted the ‘Cecil B DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award’. While accepting the annual award, the entertainment mogul addressed the racial injustice and sexual abuse issues. She said, “I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day final dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say 'Me Too' again!” Winfrey continued her speech by calling out a press that is "under siege" and a climate where women are being empowered to speak up and say "Me too" - and men are listening. She said, “I want, tonight, to express gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they, like my mother, had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue. They're the women whose names we'll never know.”She also created history by becoming the first ever black woman to receive the honour since it was first handed out in 1952. Winfrey and other actresses including, Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, Jessica Biel, Mariah Carey, Diane Kruger, walked the ramp support for Time's Up anti-sexual harassment and pro-equality in the workplace fundraising campaign.
