New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): “It’s like when you just don’t have control over emotions, your thoughts, you feel completely and utterly out of control,” explained American actor Jada Pinkett Smith as she opened up about her battle with severe depression. ‘The Girls Trip’ star, who never holds back when it comes to speaking out about her mental health issues, got candid about how she battled depression ‘for years’ during her Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk. In the clip, Jada talks to her daughter, Willow Smith, and mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, about how, during that time, waking up in the morning was the “worst part” of the day, confirmed US Weekly. “I was severely depressed, severely,” said Jada. “And that was something that I battled with for years. Waking up in the morning was like the worst part of the day”. She also explained that it would take her “hours” to get through it each day. Earlier in June, following the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, Jada opened up about her mental health battle. She wrote that the deaths of Bourdain and Spade “brought up feelings of when I was in such despair and had considered the same demise...often. In the years I spent towards my healing, many moons ago, I realized the mind and heart can be extremely delicate without the foundation of a formidable spirit”.
