Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey to star in Meghna Gulzar’s next

New Delhi, Dec 24 (ANI): Deepika Padukone is all set to star opposite Vikrant Massey in the lead in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming movie Chhapaak. Deepika will be seen essaying the role of Laxmi Agarwal, who is a real life acid attack survivor. Laxmi Aggarwal was attacked, when she was just 15 years old. She underwent numerous surgeries after she was attacked by a family acquaintance. Her unquashable spirit led her to help acid attack victims and also launch several campaigns to stop such attacks. Today she is a renowned advocate, and works for stricter punishment for attackers. Laxmi received US State Department’s International Women of Courage Award in 2014 by US First Lady Michelle Obama and was also chosen as the NDTV Indian of the Year. The film will be co-produced by Deepika herself too. Deepika, Meghna Gulzar, and Vikrant have been sharing the news about Chhapaak on their Twitter and Instagram handles actively. Movie Critic, Taran Adarsh also tweeted about the film. Deepika was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, whereas Vikrant Massey was recently seen in the web series ‘Mirzapur’, which gained him a lot of audience. ‘Chhapaak’ is expected to release in March 2019.
