Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday said that Parliament should also include the deteriorating air quality in several parts of the country in its list of business and hold a discussion on it.
As winter sets in, a thick layer of smog enveloped the national capital Delhi on Wednesday morning. The city's air quality remains in the 'Very Poor' category, with an AQI of 376 at 7 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The Supreme Court asked the Centre to reassess its air-pollution action plan for Delhi-NCR, noting the need to examine factors beyond stubble burning. The Court said scientific evaluation is required and will hear the matter twice a month, with the next hearing on December 10.
With air pollution levels rising sharply during October and November, doctors in Delhi warn that poor air quality is severely affecting vital organs, particularly in vulnerable groups.
