Names of the electors in West Bengal declared eligible by the judiciary will be added to the electoral roll, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, said on Saturday.
Speaking to ANI, Jaiswal said, "There is still a chance today. If Mamata Banerjee ji feels that even one voter's name out of 54 lakh has been removed improperly, she can go to the Election Commission."
Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Kishan has fiercely criticised the Trinamool Congress (TMC) opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in West Bengal, alleging it's a ploy to shield "bogus voters", including a large Bangladeshi influx.
"The most important point is that the BJP, its government, its officials, and the Election Commission are working together to cancel over 50,000 votes in the assembly constituencies where the Samajwadi Party and the INDIA Alliance won in 2024, using the pretext of SIR," he alleged.
Following the Election Commission of India's (ECI) announcement of the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 12 States and Union Territories, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal has scheduled a press conference on Tuesday at 6 pm.
