As the US Navy marks 250 years of its establishment, the celebrations were joined by US President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth at the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier at Naval Station in Norfolk.
Speaking at Naval Station Norfolk on Sunday beside the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman, Trump praised the Navy's efforts to combat what he called "cartel terrorists", noting that another vessel had been hit on Saturday (local time).
Additionally Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the USS Harry S Truman carrier strike group -- currently operating in the Red Sea -- to extend its deployment by at least a month, according to two defence officials
The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the aircraft, that was flying off the USS Harry S Truman, according to the CENTCOM
