Israeli jets struck several Hamas terrorists using a United Nations school in the central Gaza town of Nuseirat, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Sunday.
As part of operational searches of civilian sites converted by Hamas into combat facilities, soldiers raided a UN school used by Hamas's Shejaya Battalion as a weapons warehouse and hideout.
Following an overnight strike by the Israeli military at an UN-run school in Gaza, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has said that the country is operating against Hamas that is using the UNRWA facilities and added that they stooped a "ticking time bomb.
A school run by the United Nations in northern Gaza has been attacked, the UN confirmed on Saturday. A top UN official described it as a "horrifying" incident, CNN reported.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said, "11 United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff and personnel have been killed since Saturday", referring to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees which also runs schools in Gaza.
