The World Health Organisation congratulated Nepal for restricting levels of industrially produced trans-fatty acids in the food supply through legislation, a move aimed at promoting health and saving lives.
WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh has said India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand have taken steps to eliminate trans-fatty acids from their national food supplies, potentially benefiting over 1.7 billion people.
