Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has confirmed 16 new deaths in the last two days, bringing the total death toll from flooding and rain-related incidents across the country over the past two months to 831, The Express Tribune reported on Saturday.
The SDMA confirmed that the total death toll has reached 192 since the onset of the monsoon season. This includes 106 rain-related fatalities and 86 deaths in road accidents, underscoring the dual threat of natural hazards and infrastructural vulnerability during the current weather conditio
Of the total deaths, 101 have been directly linked to rain-related incidents such as landslides and flash floods, while 78 fatalities were reported in road accidents attributed to hazardous weather conditions.
A road accident on Friday night in Karachi's Baldia added to the growing death toll of road mishaps in the city, as a dumper truck driving the wrong way on the Hub River road ran over a rickshaw, taking the total death toll of the year to 150.
