With an aim to improve security inside the Tihar Jail, the administration has purchased 10 nonlinear junctions from a US-based firm, which will be able to detect mobile phones or SIM cards from the prisoners lodged in the Jail.
Delhi Police on Friday arrested a criminal from the Gogi gang, which was involved in the recent killing of its rival Tillu Tajpuriya in Delhi's Tihar jail, officers said on Saturday.
The official further said that members of both groups engaged in the scuffle received serious injuries and have been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Hospital.
As per Tihar officials, the inmate, identified as Raja alias Mahawar (29), was found hanging in the common bathroom of Ward-6 of Central Jail No.4 on Friday morning.
In a major rejig in the department, as many as 80 officials of Tihar Jail have been transferred since the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya inside the prison.
The 26-year-old convict was lodged in jail number 8-9 and allegedly took his life by hanging om the the common toilet area of the enclosure for inmates, officials said. The suicide incident comes even as an investigation is underway into the death of jailed gangster Tillu Tajpuriya.
Days after the murder of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya inside Tihar jail, the authorities have deployed a Quick Response Team (QRT) and spread a net cover on the jail premises in Delhi as a step to ensure that nobody is able to throw in cellphones or anything else inside, said officials.
As per the Delhi Police sources, the diseased was quite "disturbed" after the killing of Tillu. However, the police are probing this angle in the case, he added.
