Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications is considering amendments which will require vessels of all sizes to install automatic identification systems (AIS) in a bid to track ships near Taiwan's shores as well as prevent Chinese incursions, the Taipei Times reported.
Kuan Bi-ling's statement comes after a Taiwanese tour boat in Kinmen, the "King Xia," that strayed near Chinese territorial waters was intercepted by a Chinese Coast guard ship and boarded by Chinese personnel on February 19.
A Taiwanese cruise ship was escorted back to Kinmen after being boarded and inspected by Chinese Coast Guard personnel on Monday, Focus Taiwan reported citing Taipei's Coast Guard Administration (CGA).
