The troops of the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Forces in Meghalaya intercepted two Indian nationals with three vehicles loaded with huge quantities of sugar meant for smuggling into Bangladesh near the Lyngkhat bordering area under the Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district on Saturda
Acting on specific information, troops of the 193 Batallion of BSF Meghalaya, rescued 28 cattle loaded into two vehicles en route to the international border, meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
In a significant joint operation conducted by troops of BSF Meghalaya Frontier and Meghalaya Police successfully seized a huge quantity of sugar meant for smuggling into Bangladesh from the bordering area of the South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
The Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted illicit smuggling activities alongside India-Bangladesh border and seized items worth Rs 11 lakhs in various operations, said an official statement by the BSF.
Sugar prices in Pakistan have increased to Rs 185 per kg, with the country’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) asking relevant agencies to check for the hoarding and smuggling of sugar, Dawn reported.
